This note serves as an introduction to the following two topics: “Eating” and “Security”. Overly cautious friends have warned us against even mentioning these two because they saw them as topics with some possible negative elements that might scare away potential Atlas clients. We take the opposite view: the more information you have, positive or negative, the better-off you are…. the more you know about a topic, the more likely you are to make a cogent decision.

We feel that there are probably minor culinary concerns with any location, including your own house. In fact, the USDA cites the average American home kitchen as one of the more dangerous places you could dine (cross-contamination, temperature and food storage problems, etc.). The solution is for the traveler to know of any existing potential concerns prior to a trip, and to be given the information on how to avoid or best neutralize any problems before they have a chance to manifest themselves. Atlas knows the scene at all of our destinations and we will lead you to dining venues in which we have complete trust.

Regarding the second topic, security, we can’t stress this enough: none of our destinations are particularly crime-prone. You’re more than likely safer on an Atlas adventure than you are in your home city. To put things in perspective, America has one of the highest crime rates in the world, and many foreigners have fears about traveling to the States. Again, our philosophy is to make the client aware of any known existing scams or potential security concerns and to let you know how things work in the destination, so that you can employ some of that common sense you’ve developed through the years.

Atlas won’t deny your right to get the full picture, we know your concerns, and we’ll be watching your back.
